Project: SugarCRM Mobile Connector
The SugarCRM Mobile Connector was developed for a client who wanted his remote sales force
to have instant real-time access to his customer relationship management software, Open Source
SugarCRM. We explored several different options as possibilities but ended up building a web
application that was designed for web enabled mobile phones, specifically the Palm 700W.
Choosing a web application kept our development costs down and allowed the greatest amount of
flexibility. We were ecstatic to learn of Palm 700W’s support for AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript)
which allowed us to build a bandwidth conscience application that was nearly as responsive as its
desktop counter part, with a more limited feature set of course. A statistics section allowed
each associate to see his or her numbers up against their closest competitor, within the company,
which dramatically increased corporate rivalry and competition for the best numbers.
